ネパールにおける環境に配慮した平和構築に関する研究ワークショップの開催（IDEC国際連携機構　シマンガン・ダリア・コリャード准教授）

2023年4月20日に、NERPSのシマンガン・ダリア准教授が、広島大学ネパール学友会（Hiroshima University Scholars’ Alumni Nepal, HiUSAN）およびトリブバン大学と共同で開催した研究ワークショップでは、環境問題を管理するコンフリクト・センシティブ・アプローチに関する話題について研究発表が行われました。 18の学術機関、政府機関、シンクタンク、NGOから計43名の参加者がトリブバン大学紛争・平和・開発学部に集まり、ネパールにおける平和と環境の持続可能性を達成するための課題や機会について議論しました。このワークショップは、ネパールの全国的な問題に関する最新の開発動向、ニュース、詳細分析、アイデアを提供する一流のニュース雑誌「New Spotlight」でも取り上げられました。参加者は、環境に配慮した平和構築について継続的な対話が必要であると認識しましたが、中にはネパールでは重要視されていないテーマであると考えている人もいます。このため、主催者は2024年にネパールで第2回ワークショップを開催することに合意しました。

This research workshop organized by Dahlia Simangan of NERPS, jointly with the Hiroshima University Scholars’ Alumni Nepal (HiUSAN) and Tribhuvan University, featured research presentations on topics related to conflict-sensitive approaches to managing environmental issues. A total of 43 participants from 18 academic institutions/government agencies/think-tanks/NGOs came together on April 20, 2023 at the Department of Conflict, Peace and Development Studies of Tribhuvan University to discuss the challenges and opportunities for achieving peace and environmental sustainability in Nepal. The workshop was also covered by New Spotlight, a premier news magazine that provides the latest development trends, news, in-depth analysis and ideas about Nepal’s national issues. Students, researchers, and practitioners saw the need for continued conversation on environmental peacebuilding, which some of the participants view as a marginal topic in Nepal. For this reason, the organizers agree to conduct a second instalment of the workshop in Nepal in 2024.
